Green Woodpecker Keyring
“Big Ed the Green Woodpecker is laughing at you. Yaffling with his family about the coming rain. Ed doesn't mind a shower after all that dirty work. Digging for ants in a carpet of fresh mown grass then hoovering up with his long, sticky tongue.”
Ed the Green Woodpecker is made from oatmeal, red, acid green and green herringbone Harris tweed. He has a beady little black resin button eye. The details on his face have been needle felted from natural merino fibres.
The layers of tweed have been needle felted, free motion embroidered together and backed with vintage leather, most of which were my grandads samples from his days as the manager of Leeds Tannery in the 1960’s.
As the samples came in postcard size pieces of all colours and styles, the leather used to back your keyring may be different from the picture. The keyring is copper riveted together and has a 2.5cm copper split ring.
He measures approximately 6 x 10cm
Ed comes displayed on a manilla luggage label.
Because all of my tweedy birds are hand made, they all have a distinct personality. There may be small differences between yours and the one in the picture
