Green Woodpecker Lantern
“Big Ed the Green Woodpecker is laughing at you. Yaffling with his family about the coming rain. Ed doesn't mind a shower after all that dirty work. Digging for ants in a carpet of fresh mown grass then hoovering up with his long, sticky tongue.”
Ed the Green Woodpecker is made from oatmeal, red, acid green and green herringbone Harris tweed. He has a beady little black resin button eye. The details on his face have been needle felted from natural merino fibres. He measures approximately 6 x 10cm
Ed is appliquéd onto a lantern that has been covered with a bold green leaf print cotton Batik fabric. My batik fabric comes from Hoffman Batiks, who are a 90 year old Californian, family run firm. All of their batik is hand printed in Bali.
The lantern measures 12cm high with a diameter of 10cm.
This lantern is suitable for use with battery powered tea lights or filled with a string of fairy lights. Do not use with candles as the fabric is not flame retardant.
